The problems with the standard three-piece crank hub on the S55 and N55 engines are widely known, but to prevent the original crank bolt from coming loose, it needs to be secured. The crank bolt is prone to loosening due to the natural vibration and harmonics of the engine, meaning that even the slightest loss of torque will throw your timing out of alignment. 

For the perfect solution, which is highly recommended for high performance or track cars, you should plan to upgrade both of these retainer plates with this one-piece crank hub. The Crankhub is easy to install and provides great added protection - making it a sensible upgrade for any N55 car used on the road.

MMR Performance Capture Plate is made of T-6061 aluminum. It completely surrounds and secures the original crank bolt head, making it physically impossible for it to turn or come loose. The oblong grooves, which are secured on either the one-piece MMR crank hub or the OE crank hub, ensure a perfect and secure installation every time.
